1.   Schematic.

The goal is to test the terminal server.

 

Unfortunately, I only have one computer and one Serial Port on this computer.

I will use two program to emulate a virtual port and to connect to the RaspberryPi.

We will use MODSCAN to speak with MODSIM through the raspberry running SER2NET.

 

The connection is as follow:

 


2.   ComOCom install

As there is only one physical port, I need to create a virtual COM port :

 

 

 

 

 


3.   Windows PC

3.1.                   COMoCOM

A virtual pair of ports is configured :

  • COM7 is detected in windows as a serial port → can be used by a legacy software such as MODSCAN.
  • CNCB1 is a virtual port that will be used by COM2TCP.

 

3.2.                   COM2TCP

Will connect the Virtual port CNCB1 to the Raspberry SER2NET:

 

c:\Program Files\com0com\com2tcp-1.3.0.0-386\com2tcp-1.3.0.0-386>com2tcp –baud 9600 –telnet \\.\CNCB1 192.168.1.24 10002

OpenC0C(“\\.\CNCB1”, baud=9600, data=8, parity=no, stop=1) – OK

 


3.3.                   MODSCAN

MODSCAN is running on COM7 :

MODSIM is connected on COM 1 :

 

4.   Raspberry.

The raspberry is running like a terminal server at address 192.168.1.24.

On Raspberry, the SER2NET is running :

Start sr2net : /usr/local/sbin/ser2net –n
